A bold and innovative designer, Blake Kuwahara is locally based here in the San Francisco Bay Area. With a doctorate from UC Berkeley's school of optometry, Kuwahara's creative style and eye for detail has made him a eyewear visionary.
His groundbreaking production techniques and ability to create texture and detail is visible through first independent brand, KATA eyewear. The Blake Kuwahara brand was launched in fall of 2015, with a specific focus on soulful, tactile, and artful sensibility.

Unique Designs: Blake Kuwahara designs are known for their inner silhouette encased in an unexpectedly fresh outer shape. This seamless fusion of two frames and the juxtaposition of contrasting form and color create a design tension that is thoroughly modern yet comfortably familiar.

Quality Craftsmanship: Each frame is an individual feat of engineering. The inner and outer silhouettes are milled as separate pieces and go through an arduous, two-month, proprietary lamination process. An additional six months is required to mill, polish, and produce each frame.
